This retreat is not just a journey of relaxation, but a celebration of the art of living, where every moment invites you to embrace the beauty of your body and the world around you; so it has to be in a place as majestic as Hermosa Cove.
Both Melissa & Janine focus much of their life’s work around female connection and the divine bond to Mother Earth, The Divine Feminine, and to one another as women. They believe that female led and female exclusive circles, communities, and relationships are vitally important to restoring our innate feminine knowing. It is with this retreat that we will work together, in tandem to ignite the divine feminine within you.
It is known that the Divine Feminine is no longer honoured in the same way as centuries gone past; as women we have been pushed into spaces that don’t allow for our feminine energy to freely flow. In this five day retreat, we will come back to that knowing, that energy and that space where we, as women, have always meant to exist.
Melissa and Janine invite you to join them with their combined three decades of knowledge and practice where they will share their innate wisdom, spiritual guidance, and the practice that is yoga so that you can come back to who you are and who you were always meant to be.
Purpose = power. That pretty much sums up the journey of self-discovery for Janine and the focus of her offering today. Through personal trials and tribulations she recognized the purpose of her own life and refined that understanding through study and spiritual practice.
In the early days Janine did what she thought she was “supposed” to do: signed up for a corporate job fresh out of university and ’followed the rules’, believing that happiness was the reward. Instead, she received an extensive hospital stay in 2013. That was the wakeup call that nudged her deeper into the study of Yoga, Eastern Philosophy and purposeful living.
This motivated her to treat everything in her life as an experiment to see what worked and what didn’t. Janine questioned everything in an effort to shift from a mindset of survival to one of thriving. Along the way she discovered psychic abilities, a capacity to inspire and empower others and a deep desire to be of service. Ultimately refocusing to live a more joyful and successful life and become a teacher for those wishing the same.
Janine spends most of her time teaching and hosting retreats in her beloved home, The Cayman Islands, as well as internationally in Bali and Jamaica. No matter where in the world you may meet, her essence is palpable. Janine is the teacher you look to when you want to transform your life.
“I am deeply grateful to my teachers, the sages and the Grace of God for allowing me to know the wisdom of Yoga. I practice so that my life may be an example of beauty and excellence. I teach so that others may know the innate joy and wisdom within themselves.”
Melissa took her first step on a yoga mat at the age of 16 under the direction of a family physician in an effort to combat anxiety. She fell in love with her practice of yoga and took her first Yoga Teacher Training at the age of 19 in the Ashtanga Vinyasa lineage under a traditional Indian Teacher in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
Her yoga practice has been an anchor throughout her adult life, her various business ventures and is the compass that directs her through her dharma as both wife and mother to a collective six children. Melissa believes that everything is yoga and knows that it is this practice that has fuelled her entrepreneurial spirit, allowing her to lean into her creativity with the comfort of knowing that we are all guided by something far greater than ourselves.
After years of teaching and practicing yoga part time while exploring the balance between work and family; Melissa, along with her husband and children relocated to the beautiful islands of Cayman. It is here where she founded One Heart Yoga & Apothecary. Melissa remains full of gratitude for the welcoming One Heart has received from both the people of Cayman as well as the Cayman Wellness Community. She is even more humbled by her further opportunity to create a retreat centre in Jamaica – when becoming the co-owner of the already existing and flourishing Hermosa Cove Villa Resort in Ocho Rios.
Since her first Yoga Teacher Training, Melissa has become a Reiki Master, a Certified Herbalist and completed teacher trainings in Baptiste Yoga, Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Yogic Philosophy, Pranayama, Yoga Nidra, Pre & Post Natal, Trauma Informed Yoga, Meditation and Yin Yoga. She is dedicated to exploring her practice of yoga and is committed to being a life long learner.
Melissa believes that the opportunity for yoga happens everywhere and that our practice of asana is only a reminder of how we can grow and evolve off the mat. You will find her teaching practices to be challenging, yet accessible to all with a weaving thread of yogic philosophy.
We at Hermosa Cove believe travel is a journey and vacations should be as unique as the people who take them; which is why we crafted a destination that is special amongst the throng of Caribbean resorts.
Here we artfully weave our 13 distinct villas through the landscape, respecting and honoring Mother Earth. Here we lean into the existing flora and fauna, allowing the beauty of nature and the rich colors of ocean blue and forest green to be our backdrop. Here we lift up local culture and people so that we can grow in our understanding and love for all humanity.
Hermosa Cove is a work of art.
Hermosa Cove is an act of love.
Hermosa is clearly crafted with love and attention, with care and an artistic eye, with respect for nature and a passion for people.
Our entire resort is built into the existing landscape, highlighting the natural beauty of Jamaica, of the Ocean, and of the Earth.
We love Jamaican culture; the positive beat and vibe of the people is infectious – best highlighted through Music and Food.
You are invited to stay in one of the nine private, distinctive villas that make up our “village”. These villas are nestled together – close enough to foster community – but each have private walls, indoor and outdoor living areas, a fully stocked kitchen, and dip pools; all to provide you with rest and relaxation.
Our village villas are built in three different types …
Each of the villas can be booked by an individual or a group. We’ve also provided the option to book a single bedroom in one of of our larger Halls – allowing you to share the space with other women at the retreat.
Pricing is dependent upon the selected villa.
